Spring Forward (Part 3): Get the Energy Moving

Even the smallest actions every day can make a huge difference in bringing new energy into your home and life. Below is my abbreviated list of all-time favorite practices from Your Spacious Self to clear stuck energy and feel good.*

My suggestion: Adopt one clearing practice a day and repeat the same one for one week and switch. When you’ve completed number 5, cycle back around and repeat the sequence until the practices become second nature.

The secret to your success:  Allow and fully feel any resistance that arises without taking any of it personally and do something that feels good afterwards.

Enjoy the third post in my series in springing forward!**

  1. Start small, keep it simple: Even the smallest efforts repeated regularly over time move stuck energy: turn out the lights; put the toilet seat down; close drawers all the way (’til you hear the click); push chairs in after use; make the bed; match shoes with mates; push toothpaste tube up or put the cap on…
  2. Put away the same thing in the same place: Find a permanent home for the things you use every day like the car keys, reading glasses, remote control, cell phone, etc. – and be sure to put them away after each and every use.
  3. Set a timer and round up an area for 60 seconds: If its the family room, for example, gather up and return dirty dishes to the kitchen; recycle newspapers; stack the books or magazines on the coffee table; place toys back in their home; eject the DVDs; fluff up pillows…
  4. Befriend your broom: Sweep with the intention of invoking a fresh start; sweep as a practice in mindfulness and letting go; sweep your front steps to bring in new energy; whack your bedding, sofas, chairs, pillows; reach and clear cobwebs in the ceiling…
  5. Address one toleration every day: These are the projects you keep putting off or the niggly things that you don’t even notice anymore: replace the burned-out light bulb, mildewed shower curtain or bath mat; sew the button; handwash the sweater; feed the plants; replace the birdseed in the birdfeeder; get a haircut; call the piano tuner; write the thank you note…
