“It’s not just about food. It’s not just about of a restaurant. It’s about something more.”– Chef’s Table

Here’s a photo of my morning coffee – being poured from an elegant pot.

I wish.

Actually is it a scene from Chef’s Table, my new favorite documentary series on Netflix. I’m totally in love with this show and I don’t even cook!

Watching each episode is a holy experience. It takes the culinary experience and elevates it new heights – of beauty, art, magic, sensuality, spiritual devotion – like I’ve never seen on television before.

The passion, the rituals, and the challenges; the gathering, tasting, smelling, and touching of ingredients as they are being loved into a new forms and combinations; the rich and deeply moving personal stories of each featured chef; the table settings – from rustic campfires in the middle of nowhere to elegant three-Michelin star dining rooms; the drop-dead locations and the music…

Yes, even the music… all of it together is a feast for the senses.

For foodies and nonfoodies alike, this show is church. It delivers, inspires, transports, and most of all: feeds the soul.

If you would like a little taste of the experience, the short video below will get the juices flowing.

(…And maybe even inspire you to reach for that thing, or passion, that you’ve put off way too long, that might give you your own taste of heaven. Just sayin’.)
